Merry Christmas...In May.

The First Noel, the Angels did say
Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay
In fields where they lay keeping their sheep
On a cold winter's night that was so deep.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel Born is the King of Israel!

The song above is what I caught myself whistling in the shower yesterday.

The First Noel.

IT IS MAY!

Yes, I love Christmas...and I may or may not have been called the whistler at past job(s)...but, I think I have yet another problem. I mean, I usually wait until at least August to start whistling Christmas tunes.

-----------

Claire got an email last week from her good friend Vince...she has been in the Navy Reserves with him for a number of years and they served together in Iraq. He was going to be in town this weekend for the Little League Worldwide Challenger Jamboree. Little League launched its Challenger Division to give kids with disabilities the opportunity to play baseball. Both of Vince's kids were able to play and had a great time. They stayed right on the beach, got to explore the area, and have a great weekend together.

It was the first time I had met Vince and he was really a great guy. As Claire and I left after having lunch with him and the kids, Vince stopped us and thanked me for being great to his best-friend Claire. That was was really cool.

If you want a first hand experience with Challenger leagues, check out this post from Missing J.T. Snow. You can find a great example of some of the touching writing she does here...Hey, us baseball fans need to stick together, not to mention, I enjoy her writing.

I Love Christmas time and Christmas Music! AND Im not afraid to admit I started singing All I want for Christmas is You while walking around Wal-Mart in July! I was with the guy I was dating at the time too. At least he didn't leave me there.

Vince sounds like a great guy! Is he single??? jk!

Okay, now I'M singing "The First Noel." Don't get me wrong, I love Christmas songs. Love them. But, like you, I usually wait until at least August to start singing them around my house. Or office. Hmm..i wonder how my co-workers will react to me singing Christmas songs today...

In a few more weeks, we'll be unpacking Christmas merchandise and setting displays in the bookstore. I have not yet recovered from last Christmas!

That said, I totally have found myself not fast forwarding past the Christmas songs that come up on the iPod when it's set to shuffle!

Okay its your fault that I am singing Away in a Manger (or maybe its the fact that I have a lot of cleaning up around this house of mine!

That was a nice compliment for you and Claire from her friend.

Have a good one.

My dad has a tape of Christmas music he listens to year round.

Jingle Bell Rock is pretty awesome in mid august.

I was watching John and Kate plus 8 last night...a whole other sickness...and they were re-running the episode of their Christmas caroling. I suddenly had the desire to bake (it is almost 100 degrees here) and buy a really dorky sweater.

I always feel like the Christmas season is too short. I mean I never have enough time to fit in all of the memories that I want to participate in...and that darn New Year's holiday...I want one like the movies. Big fancy parties, champagne toasts, and stupid party hats. The only New Years parties I've been to had kids there...that is no movie moment, I tell ya.

:) I say, sing, whistle, and shout your Christmas cheer...because as elf would say:

"The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear!" (You cotton-headed ninnymuggins.)

How funny, my daughter was singing Jingle Bells in the shower this morning and I've had it stuck in my head ever since.

And Becky's a liar. It's cold today - grey and overcast. Sprinkled a little even. And the wind is blowing. It's 70 and I'm wearing a hoodie. It's lovely. The weather I mean. My hoodie is just okay.
