Happy Birthday

She pulled a knife on me once...
Was my diving partner when we were the "Thompson Twins"...
Has 2 beautiful babies...
Encouraged my niece to call me "Yo-Yo". It has stuck.
Got very good at the "Name that band" game I made her play.
Is the "loud one" in the family...
Is a great mother...
Actively pursues her faith in a way that makes me a little jealous...
Found a great husband...
Has a soft heart...
Has done an amazing job of working hard to keep the entire family involved in her life...
Put up with my constant tormenting and teasing...
She is joining the ranks of 30-something's today and I want to

WISH MY SISTER A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Hester Prinn...I hope your birthday is a great one. You are a wonderful woman, mother and wife. I appreciate the trail you have blazed for all the siblings and have set a pretty high standard for being a parent that we all hope to live up too. I love you.

Do you ROCK as a brother or what? What a cool way to honor your sister on her b-day.

If she's anything like you, I know she is one cool chic! (not that I'm suggesting your a girl or anything!)

Sounds like you and your sister have a wonderful relationship. I adore my sister. We fought like cats and dogs growing up, but isn't that what makes some of the best memories?

Plus, we know each others dirty little secrets :)

Are you suggesting I NOT wear a thong on my head when we pick him up? What about JUST A THONG?

What a sweet brother! Ok... give it up... is Hester Prinn a name you gave her of some secret significance? My brother liked to call me Helga... but he wasn't nice.

You forgot to mention that in that game of "name that band" the way you MADE me play was by saying, "who sings this song?" I'd try, "Led Zeplin" you'd say, "nope" I'd get SOCKED IN THE LEG!!! and did so until I said the correct band! (and may I mention it was always while he was driving so I was NEVER allowed to hit back, "you can't hit the driver, could cause me to get in an accident, keep trying" ahhh, memories...:o) also on those trips to school, he actually made me put hot sauce on his bean burrito and FEED it to him while he was driving...I was told it was for safty...hmmmm...
Isn't it just like a big brother to make the first thing I do on my 30th is cry! Just kidding...M- I love you so much. That was so awesome of you to take time and space on your blog to mention my birthday. Sisters never forget words like that and this sister needed to hear some of that right now more than you know...I'm proud to be your sister and realy think fondly on a lot of the memories we have. I know all your friends know but you really are a wonderful person and I'm very proud of you. I love and miss you more than you know. Thank you for honoring me today, it really means a lot!
Love, Esther ;o)
P.S. Hurry home, Reagan and Sam miss their uncle "Yo-yo"!! (I do too!)

Hester Prinn? I get the literary reference, but is it supposed to be a compliment?

This was really sweet. I am an only child so sibling relationships fascinate me. I hope my boys would say something so nice to their sister on her birthday. :)

This is an amazing tribute to your sister! And I say this as an older sister whose younger sister actually chucked a knife at her! Sounds like you two are a delight to be around, and you've definitely earned the good brother points!

Wow! It's not even my birthday, and I got a shout-out in your tribute!

Thanks, Michael. You made my wife a very honored woman today. I'm bummed you won't be here for the party Saturday. It won't be as cool as it could be.

Brothers don't shake hands, brothers gotta blog!

What a sweet thing to do for her.
And poor sister...I am sorry for the socks in the leg...I would have been bruised right along with you...not a big fan of LZ.
