I Don't Listen to Bad Music

Last Saturday, Claire and I had our last premarital counseling...the pastor said that he thought we were a good fit and felt very comfortable about our relationship...whew.

-----

I cooked dinner for Claire on V-Day...a day that I despise, mainly because I think it is designed by retailers to sell more crap and is used by guys that don't know how to treat their woman to get brownie points.

I don't need Hallmark or 1-800-Flowers to tell me to treat my woman the right way.

I digress...the dinner was okay. The side dishes rocked (homemade/home-cut garlic fries and a red pepper relish), but my use of a coffee-coriander-brown sugar dry rub was, FAIL.

The steak was cooked well, but you know you have FAILED when both you and the lady are scraping off the top.

The company was the best part of the night...I found a good woman, Charlie Brown.

-----

Went to the Jonny Lang concert on Sunday night in Virginia Beach...He was rocking. If you like blues/soul, I highly recommend seeing him live.

-----

His opening act was a gal by the name of Sharon Little...head over to her website and check her out. She has a great voice, has a good command of the stage and understands how to use her, eh hem, woman-niss...I now own her CD.

Her song writing is okay and could use some more polish.

She reminds me of a Joan Osborne (any song besides "One of Us") or a better, more bluesy Patti Rothberg.

-----

William/Gigglepotamus/JP...you should know she is from Philly.

-----

Family begins arriving on Saturday. That means the wedding is close.

About 12 years ago, maybe a bit more, we were vacationing in San Diego and were wandering around a business/restaurant/bar area, taking in the sights and sounds, and stumbled into a place and heard this new up and coming blues guitarist who was just a baby. Jonny Lang, indeed, puts on a good show.

So long as you could both laugh as you scraped off the steak topping simultaneously, then I'm calling it a win. :)

Wedding guests in just a few more days? That's exciting! Enjoy this time.

Don't get me started on Valentine's Day - stupid holiday with too much pressure and no real value!

I nearly screamed at the TV on Valentine's morning when watching Mickey Mouse clubhouse with the girls and they had a scene where Daisy Duck got all pissed off at Donald Duck when he forgot her Valentine's Day present....we're showing this to the preschool set? really?

Oh well...we can't wait to see you next week!

Counseling? I don't think I would have passed that particular test at all. I thought my wedding was stressful enough. :)

Congrats on the wedding! You and my husband apparently have similar feelings for V-day. At least I got a card and a box of sweetarts this year. :P Enjoy these next couple of weeks!

I didn't think anyone else knew about Patti Rohtberg! Don't sweat the steak, failing is learning.

Have fun this weekend!

*lol* @ William.

I completely agree w/ you about Valentine's Day being nothing more than a commercial ruse. If, however, the man in my life ever uses that as an excuse to ignore me on Feb. 14, I will jam a dozen roses where the sun don't shine--thorny stems first.
Then he can join Jonny in singin' the blues.

First of all, William: SHUT UP! You never had it so good, and Bogart will too, so stop trying to talk him out of it.

Bogart: You get points for cooking, whether it turns out or not, and I'm sure the garlic fries more than made up for the steak. And, you're willing to experiment, which I respect.

Claire: Woo-hoo! You got a man that cooks!! Lucky girl (just make sure you keep a few take out menus handy....).

You did find a good woman, Bogart. And Claire found a very good man. It always makes me happy to know that two people who are meant to be together forever are getting married. AND WILLIAM, "Still time"!!!! You are a bad boy!

How great is it that you are going to see Bruce for the first time in May!!! You are in for the experience of a lifetime, my friend! You WIIL NOT be disappointed!(I've see him so many times, I've almost lost count, but I know it's past 20!) And yes, please think of me.(and Rob, my brother.)

Hugs,
Debbie

My only advice is if you agree to do the cooking, make sure you instate the rule that whoever cooks doesn't have to do the dishes. It worked for me for at least 6 of the 9 years I've been married. Now I sort of do both (sigh), but it was a great ride!

Congrats getting the OK from the Pastor. I've never met with one that didn't end in me saying 4 Hail Marys and an Our Father.
